2/26/2017 0 Comments TWO BROTHERS AT REPUBLICAIf you thought my social life revolved around Emile booking gigs and dragging me off the couch in order to be a supportive girlfriend, you wouldn't be entirely wrong.
Lucky for him, watching him play is one of my favourite ways to spend my time so it doesn't take much convincing. As always, gigs are one of the key times that I bring my camera out of hiding so here's a few snaps of these two talented souls doing what they do best. But I've taken to bringing my camera to his gigs so that when I stare at him with awe while he sings, I can do it through a camera viewfinder and look less like a love-struck groupie. Don't tell him that though, because currently he and his band mate think I'm doing it in the name of promotion and that I'm a super helpful supportive girlfriend who's not at all clingy and/or obsessed.
I'd like to keep it that way. 5/28/2016 0 Comments On Top All StarsLast night I had the pleasure of watching my boyfriend and about 6 of his musical companions of the best part of the last decade perform a tribute set to the bar that brought them all together. I took my new camera along to test it out and ended up getting to capture what was a really special night. Ontop Bar in Ormond has been a second home to Emile, and last night I think I finally understood why. After 2 two hour sets of all Australian music, from Missy Higgins and Matt Corby to Midnight Oil, and every member of the band swapping instruments at least once, I was left feeling distinctly awed at the talent I am surrounded by and the sheer love for what they do that these guys were exuding. Brought together over the years by their love of music and their love of this quirky little bar that allowed them to do what they loved, these 8 incredibly talented performers joined ranks to celebrate and what resulted was a spectacular show that had people dancing on their chairs and pulling their lighters out.
